thunderbird search function

    can you specify subject or from or subfolder in thunderbird search function?
    is the search function via edit->search messages?

    I'm not yet using thunderbird but the search function is important for me therefore I'm asking info.
    Maybe thunderbird is using a global search function and searches immediatelaty in all the fields and all the folders which takes a longer time?

    Yes, Thunderbird follows the Global search that includes message indexing to improve better search results , provides full-text as well as categorized search results.The search is performed in all fields including all messages: subject, message body, From address, To address, etc & the search is not case-sensitive
