I am a comcast customer using WindowXP and Outlook Express on a DELL PC. Yesterday, after bringing up Outlook Express I was unable to download new emails and received the following error message:
    Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800

In addition, I tried to read and delete existing emails but Outlook would not permit me to do so, and received the error message that "cannot send a read validation" or something similar.

Appreciate any assistance to resolve this issue.

    Hello,

Here is a program that might help you to solve the problem :

It appears that you have an outgoing read receipt request that is stuck.

Please let us know if it lets you try to fix the first problem for free and if it fixes the problem for you.
