I have been using Live Hotmail for some time now and starting about a week ago I have been unable to open or save .doc and .xls attachments. I see the file downlaoding screen, but the download doesn't complete.

    Hi Kevin,

Please see our troubleshooting guide for Hotmail problems and let us know if any of those steps fix the problem for you.

If not we will be more than happy to work with you and come up with a solution to the problem.

How big are the attachments and what kind of internet connection do you have? If you are on dialup, are you allowing enough time for the downloads to complete?

    Hi Raymond,

None of the solutions in the troubleshooting guide helped.

I have a DSL connection at 54.0 Mbps, and my file sizes are not that big. 15KB, and 19.5KB.

    Hi Kevin,

Did you make any changes on your computer about a week ago?

New web filtering, anti-virus, spyware, plugins, anything related to web browsing?

are you *sure* you have those sizes right? I ask because DSL doesn't really go to 54mbps. You are probably reading the bandwidth you've connected to your wireless router, which is a different connection and really doesn't have anything to do with your DSL speed (which in most cases max's around 3mpbs, and is generally in the 384-1544kbps range ...).

I reset my computer to a much earlier date and that seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks for the help.

    Hi Kevin,

Do you know what changes were made between then and now?

Any new applications installed? Different spyware or virus scanner?

The only change I can think of : I was out of town during that timeframe and my internet connection was through a different network. Normally it's actiontech and the different one was sprint.
