Problem is, she DOES have an sbcglobal.net account, and she has been sending and receiving emails for five years!!!

Is that their correct address? Double check it for spelling errors. Sometimes people get a new email program and they mistype their email address resulting in a problem where they can send email but replies back to them bounce. This can also be caused by a type-o in your address book.

Some spam filters will provide misleading information with 5xx rejections too, but I don't believe that was the problem here.
