imap has closed the connection

With increasing frequency I'm presented with the message "imap has closed the connection". I have been researching possible solutions but have not found one that works yet. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi Dave,

How much email do you have saved in your inbox and folders? If you have a large email account there are a couple reasons why your connection could be stalling and timing out.

Try increasing your mail server timeout settings - How do I change the server timeouts in Microsoft Outlook?

It's also possible that your email providers servers are overloaded, that you're maxing out your internet connection, you have an anti virus taking too long to scan incoming email, or that you simple need a good old fashioned reboot.
