Hello,

When looking at full e-mail headers several IP addresses and hostnames will be listed in that information.

Spammers will often add the name of another mail server or a fake name to the headers to try and trick you.

How can you be sure that the information is not a forgery?

Use the Zone Edit DNS Tools to check the information for yourself.

To see what what IP address and hostname resolves to use the DNS Lookup Tool.

To see what hostname an IP address resolves to use the Reverse DNS Tool.

If the information does not match, you may have found a forged e-mail header.

You can also do a whois lookup on an IP address to see which ISP and country it belongs to.

If you have a question about an IP address or hostname please reply to this thread and we can help you check the information.
