Did you make a new account? Were you automatically upgraded from Hotmail to Outlook?

If you followed the upgrade process you should be able to access your old Hotmail account from within Outlook.

It's also possible to create aliases.

If you created an Outlook account it will be a separate account from the Hotmail account.
