New to the forums here with a "mac" problem :)

I recently upgraded my macbook pro to snow leopard and mail 4.1. Since the upgrade (about two weeks ago), all my email accounts work except for hotmail and gmail. All my other accounts are "normal" pop accounts and work just like they did before the upgrade.

I deleted my hotmail account and tried to set it up again but when I start the setup with my hotmail address and password, then it comes back with the "checking the connection to server "pop3.live.com" and then times out and gives the error

"The Hotmail POP server “pop3.live.com” is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server name is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable. If you continue, you might not be able to receive messages."

gmail gives a similar error :

"There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “xxx.xxxxxx@gmail.com” or try again.
The server returned the error: The connection to the server “pop.gmail.com” on port 995 timed out."

Has anyone experienced problems like this??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
