hacked email

My hotmail has been hacked into and the user has sent a message to all my contacts (except those sharing my surname!!)saying that I was stranded in Spain and could they send money via Western Union to a spanish a/c. They have changed my password and now I cannot use my hotmail a/c. How can I cancel my hotmail and stop these messages going out to my contacts again?
