All matching filters get applied to an incoming email.

The filters are displayed with the oldest at the top and the newest at the bottom of your filters page.

As Ray said, No. From what I have' seen the oldest filter gets applied first. I try to keep filters to as few as possible by combining as many as possible into one. For instance my newsletter filter looks like this:

    If from matches
Then skip inbox and label newsletters.

I handle all private messages from vBulletin boards as: If subject matches "New Private Message at" then star it and never send to spam.

You just have to be a little creative when setting up your filters to get everything humming along.
