Add contacts - am I this stupid?

Nothing is intuitive about adding a new contact. I refuse to manually input. I am frustrated and unhappy. Please help. How does this work?

Pretty much the only way to add a contact who has not yet emailed you is by doing it manually, so I'm assuming that you want to an address to your contact list and the person has already sent you an email. All you have to do in that case is open the message and left-click on their name. A menu should pop up with the option to add the sender's address to your address book/contact list.
