sending email from road runner
I am suddenly unable to send email in either my aol or my rr accounts. I receive email without a problem, but when I send a new email or reply to an email, It comes back as system administrator 554 transaction error. What happened???

Re: sending email
I think I have solved the issue, but I do not understand it. I have been using Outlook 2003 for both email accounts (rr and aol). I went to the aol website and tried to send a message from there. Got a pop up saying i needed to copy the letters I saw. Once I did that, both the aol and the rr email accounts can send mail from Outlook. How does aol get to control the rr account in Outlook? Crazy.

Re: sending email
What mail server are you using for your outgoing (SMTP) mail server setting?
Have you always been Time Warner client or were you previously an Adelphia cable modem client?
If you are not using smtp-server.roadrunner.com, try using that server and see if it works better for you.

I forget which way it goes, but one of them owns the other company.

Re: sending email on road runner
I'm curious to know what your SMTP server setting is.
You should not need to take that step if you are using smtp-server.roadrunner.com
Are you using another setting that allows you to authenticate and relay as if you were off network (not hooked up to the Time Warner cable modem)?

Re: sending email on road runner
I have always been Time Warner. I have the pop server and smtp servers set correctly. I set up the additional account with aol because I wanted an imap account to enable receiving and sending mail when traveling. According to Roadrunner, they do not support imap. My rr account will receive email in the Outlook when I travel, but I have never been able to reply to or send email when traveling, even with my own computer. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I would love to be able to use just the rr account for everything

Re: sending email from road runner
Hello,
AFAIK, Road Runner does not plan to offer SMTP Authentication.
What you can do is use the Road Runner Webmail when you are on the road.
That should allow you to use RR for everything, even when you are away from home.

Re: sending email from road runner
Thanks Raymond.
I have used rr webmail and find it very cumbersome to use. For some reason I could read my emails, but was never able to reply or to generate new email to send. Thanks for all your help.
