Default simscan vs. qmail-scanner

Hello,

Are you trying to decide between simscan and qmail-scanner for your qmail-queue replacement? Personally i prefer simscan for a few reasons. First, many years ago I was a qmail-scanner user. The problem is that over time as my mail servers grew qmail-scanner quickly became very resource intensive and I was no longer able to handle the load of all the qmail-scanner processes. It is possible that this problem has been corrected, but the damage had already been done. Moving to simscan worked well for me. Simscan has a smaller footprint and can efficiently handle running both my clamav anti-virus and/or spamassassin processes as needed depending on the mail server.

What are your experiences with qmail-scanner, simscan, and other qmail-queue replacements?

-Raymond
