On a qmail server a resource efficient way to block spam and viruses that have passed your RBL checks is to use
simscan for running
ClamAV and
SpamAssassin checks while an e-mail is being accepted. Some admins may choose to not run SpamAssassin until the last possible moment, for example from a users .qmail file as an e-mail is being delivered. It is best to use the spamc spamd combination of SpamAssassin for running your e-mail content checks.
