Here are the current pop and imap server settings for mail.com :
  • POP3 Server: pop.mail.com
  • POP3 Port: 995 (or Port 110 if you don’t use SSL)
  • IMAP Server: imap.mail.com
  • IMAP Port: 993 (or Port 143 if you don’t use SSL)
  • SMTP Server: smtp.mail.com (for POP and IMAP)
  • SMTP Port: 465 (or Port 25 if you don’t use SSL)

Is the POP3 and IMAP feature on mail.com always FREE, or I have some trial time to use it... ?

As far as I know, it's still free. There is no trail yet. Rule of thumb, if you can still access your account via imap, great. Do it. The only thing I've noticed it that mail.com has recently removed the link on how to set up pop3 and imap from their help pages, but you can still view their help page with the settings here:

Well apparently mail.com has now suspended free access to their SMTP send server. I've tried sending out over both ports 465 SSL and 587 with no success, and that's fine. If that's the way that the administrators of mail.com want to be, then that is their right. It is also our right as users to move our service to another provider, so I cancelled my account and gave the following reason to them for doing so:

Because you all have decided to get greedy and take both POP3 and IMAP access to free users, I will be discontinuing my account with you all. See my postings at:

What are the pop and imap servers for mail.com ?

Now, if you all would like to change your minds and give people back free access to both POP3 and IMAP access, I will consider coming back, but until then, you can reach me at my new primary e-mail address - address rededicated

See, two can play that game too. You all are not the only game in town or in this case on the Internet and that's why AOL, Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, and others are kicking you alls asses right now. Guess we're just going to have to teach you all the same lesson that Steve Case learned with AOL back in the 1990's

I was using Zeus email client on my Samsung Note and it automaticaly connected to my mail.com account when I started it up. I was a bit suspicous that it wasn't working manualy. So I decided to setup MailDroid with :

IMAP Server: imap.mail.com
IMAP Port: 993 (SSL enabled)
SMTP: smtp.mail.com
SMTP Port: 465

Working like a charm! :yay:

It will work when you are checking your Inbox for new messages, but when you try sending a message out from their SMTP server, you will get a login failed error. That what it did to me, so out with mail.com for the time being. At least until they realize that there are just way too many other free providers out there that do offer free and full IMAP4, POP3, and SMTP server access.

Make sure you aren't missing any security updates by skipping them.

I just signed up for a mail.com account to check what it was like and I appear to have IMAP, POP and SMTP support (it is working fine for sending and receiving through Thunderbird).

The site very clearly says that it is a premium feature and that it shouldn't work.
Does anyone know whether they have changed back to it being free? Or if they haven't yet made it premium despite saying they have? Or if it's just some free trial because I just signed up?

Would like to know before I commit to switching everything to them.
Haha.

Cheers

What error do you get when trying to use smtp port 465 + SSL enabled?

Are you using the same username and password used for the IMAP part of the configuration?
