What to do BEFORE your Hotmail account gets hacked

We also recommend that you record the following information about your Hotmail account in a safe place because you will need it if your account ever does get hacked and need to prove your identity to Microsoft:

• The names of your folders (create 4 folders and remember the names even if you do not use them)
• Subject information from 4 emails that you sent.
• Subject information from 4 emails that you received.
• Contact email addresses - 4
• Real Name on Account
• Male/Female
  
• Date of Birth
• Country
• State
• Zip

If you used fake information when creating your account make sure that it is recorded in a safe place so that it's available when speaking with Microsoft.

Create an email address with a different email service, such as Gmail, and use that as a source for Hotmail to send a security code to you if needed.

Call contact friends to send you subject info – buy them a beer ‘cause they deserve it, but also because you may need them again.
