hotmail inbox problems - blank emails

I have a hotmail account and for some reason when I receive an e mail from a person who digitially signs messages they appear blank. How can I view the messages

How are the messages signed? PGP, S/MIME, something else?

I believe you will need to access the email with a mail program on your computer:

How do I configure my Hotmail or MSN email account to work with POP3?

And then either use that programs built in features or a program such as PGP Desktop.
