Hotmail Blocked can't "Enter the Characters You See"

I am going through the process to recover a blocked account after my Live ID/Hotmail account was hacked. I answered the secret question, changed my password, but then I get a screen for Customer Service that wants my Live ID, and an alternate email. Neither of those items are a problem. Then it says Enter the Characters You See. I can't do that because characters never form. All I get is spinning dots. I tried the audio version, but get spinning dots with that too. I had McAfee remove the virus from my computer and I thought it would solve this problem, but it didn't. How can I get my account unblocked if I can't access the characters that won't appear on my screen?
