Outlook - Sending messages - no messages to send

Hello!
I have Outlook 2007(?) and when I open it, I get a message stating it's sending messages. I did not compose any messages, and there's nothing in my drafts or out box. I immediately thought it was a virus or worm sending out messages, but why only 7 when I can't even count how many addresses are in my address book...scanned the puter and no "threats" found.
I also cannot retrieve email with Outlook trying to send these non-existent messages.

It is trying to send read receipts? Fix Stuck Outlook Read Receipts

If that does not work, try using the Microsoft Outlook Repair Tool.

quite possibly so.....my mother-in-law sends EVERYTHING requesting read receipts.....have to try that when I get home. I'll keep ya posted!
