Can't read my emails in hotmail

For the last several days I have been trying to read my emails in hotmail and when I click on a message it just says "loading" and never opens up the message. I don't have any problems logging in to hotmail, just trying to read my messages. I have even tried to open past messages I have previously read that I know are just text and it does the same thing (I am on dial up so I thought that may be the issue). I am using Firefox version 2.0.0.18. I tried the steps you listed in one of the other forums and cleared the cache, cookies, etc. and that didn't help. I checked the folder with the hosts and there isn't anything in there that says hotmail. Yesterday I did a complete scan using spybot S&D and it did have some errors to fix, which I took care of. I also did a complete scan with Antivir and downloaded the latest updates. After I ran those I restarted my computer, but didn't go online again until today and I still can't access my emails. :( I could really use your help!

I did try logging in using https://login.live.com and that didn't help either. While at work today I went into my hotmail account and I don't have the same problem, I click on a message and it comes right up. Granted, we are on high speed at work, but I have been able to access my messages at home using dial up before. I just wondered if hotmail changed something that is causing me not to be able to login using dial up now?

Tina,

Yes, there have been recent changes to Hotmail.

Hotmail has been busy upgrading accounts to the latest version of Hotmail.

If you can login at work but not from home I'd recommend all of the local computer troubleshooting steps such as clearing your web browser cache, deleting your cookies, trying a different web browser, and/or reinstalling your preferred web browser. If clearing your cache does not work I realize that downloading Firefox will take a long time but it's worth the effort to download it tonight when you go to sleep and try reinstalling Firefox in the morning.

Have you tried using Internet Explorer to login?

Is it possible that the dialup is just taking a long time to download the Hotmail web pages? You should still be able to use Hotmail over dialup. I was on dialup for the holiday weekend and did not have any problems. It is slow, and sometimes takes several minutes to load a page, but it works.

Hi Tina,

Would you be OK with trying the OpenDNS DNS Servers?

More information can be found here.
