Smile Can I transfer emails from my old computer to my new one

Greetings

I have had to replace my computer and was wondering if there was an easy way to transfer my Thunderbird e-mails from my old computer to the new one. Having discovered an easy way to copy my address book from an article by Raymond, I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with my e-mails. There are lots of them.

Many thanks
Trader

It's actually very simple because thunderbird stores all of it's information in a folder under your user directory only it hidden from view by default so you cannot message it up.

If you can tell us what operating system you're currently running and what operating system you're moving to I can give you step by step instructions.

Thank you Big Dan
I'm using Windows XP Pro on both computers.

Hi Trader,

It is not as easy as copying the files to the new computer and install Thunderbird over them as I had hoped.

Here are the directions for copying your Thunderbird profile settings including email folders and address book contacts to a new computer.
