SCRYPTmail feature requests

Sergei is killing on feature so far.

Feature request: PGP key interoperability with other services. I should be able to create a SCRYPTmail contact who is not SCRYPTmail with their PGP public key, give them my SCRYPTmail PGP public key, and we can exchanged digitally signed emails and encrypt the contents and attachments.

Sergei,

1. After moving message to folder, the (inbox) page should auto-refresh. (At least it does not do so in my Palemoon browser.)
2. When viewing an opened message, one should be able to go to "next" and "previous" messages without first going back to the message list.
3. A system "Archive" folder with an "Archive" button (next to "delete," "reply," etc.) would be nice, since it would allow for single-click archiving. (And if archiving the message while in the message list, it could simultaneously be marked 'read.')
4. Since your service allows the creation of aliases (at Scryptmail and 7nd.me) it might be desirable under certain circumstances to have a "To" or "Recipient" column in the message list. Either that, or have a pop-up showing the recipient address when hovering over the message. Not sure of the best way to do this, but I thought it might come in handy if/when someone receives unsolicited emails and wants to know which of the aliases the message was sent to without having to open the message first!
5. Visually, there seems to be a bit of wasted space in the present interface. (See the general area circled here.) Perhaps something could be done to tighten things up there and consequently expand the message, text and compose areas. ??

Thanks!

It would be great if he could find like-minded and skilled people to work with him, so the service would not be so dependent on one person. :)

@foggy points taken. I agree with most of your statements and will include in design. Big redesign is coming. Inbox folder should refresh.
May I ask what exact role for Archive folder, I understand that was an option in Outlook application, when you can compress messages to safe some space on the hard drive, but what exactly it for online services?

I think foggy means there is one button on the UI which you can click either in the message list (with messages selected by the checkboxes) and in the reading view which marks the emails as read and moves them into a folder called "Archive". I have setup a quick action in Outlook.com that accomplished this with one click.

Ok. So it basically just a shortcut in panel for folder, user don't have to navigate through move to folder menu? Hm.. never thought of that

Yep. That's it exactly. :)

oh that would be a tough call. as end-to-end encrypted service, all precious information encrypted in the browser, backend just store it in the DB. if poorly implemented or unsecured with someone else, it may hurt our image as secured service. Now I'm not even sure if it possible

How about adding the account you're logged in as somewhere near the top right logout button or the inbox footer "You're currently signed in as username@scryptmail.com." Maybe some login history linked to from that line too?

Allow premium accounts (likely those that have their own domain name) the ability to purchase a dedicated IP address for their outgoing email?

The dedicated IP address will help keep the reputation of their email in their own hands vs. being mixed with other premium, or the likely worse the reputation of email leaving "shared" hosting.

What do the rockman and other users think of this feature?

Does recording and saving IP related activity for anti-abuse related efforts conflict with a users possible preference for no tracking (privacy)?

Maybe make login history an option that can be turned on (defaults off) as part of additional account protections (get strict if the geo-ip logins don't make sense) along with 2 factor authentication and other security settings?

I wouldn't mind seeing a login history (as some other services provide), so I can see for myself whether there has been some attempt -- even an (unlikely) successful one! -- by others to get in to my account. :)

How about just a "Last successful login" datetime and # of failed logins since the last successful login?

@foggy @Rockman yeah. There is going to be security log for that purpose. to protect comply with not storing log, I'm thinking to scramble last 2 zone of ip adders by making hash of it. Because that history should be stored in clear text

How about a migration tool? Automatic forwarding from the old email provider helps get new email from a previous service to SCRYPTmail.

Maybe something can be worked out with @rfs9999 to use IMAP Copy behind the scenes to get email from 3rd party email services.

I'm guessing this needs to wait until SCRYPTmail has IMAP implemented, which I imagine would also solve the problem of encrypting imported email since it would be arriving through your IMAP.

Well, yeah. Right now I'm sort of overwhelmed with features request. Which is good thing, bad thing is not all of them can come out soon. I saw somewhere repo with open source IMAP for JavaScript, if I would be able to find it again, importing messages from third service would be easy, as well give us option to be send encrypted emails from those mailboxes. It still won't solve problem if people want to use IMAP client to read their emails offline.
