Default My computer is slow - how do i make my computer faster?

I've been having lots of problems with my msn e-mail. Most of the time the screen locks up for up to five minutes. Msn has downloaded new software and it works great for awhile, but then the system goes "slow" again. I find it extremely frustrating to deal with. Any recommendations?
Thanks, Hermann

Hi Hermann,

Are you using a desktop mail client or MSN Live hotmail webmail?

Does your mail client and web browser get slow, or your entire computer?

Once we know specifically what is broken and when we can follow up with additional troubleshooting information.

Thank you,

-Raymond

does this happen only with email, or with normal web browsing as well? Do you have any other web mail accounts to play with (yahoo, gmail, etc.). At first glance it sounds like your computer may be infested with a case of the nsaties and the issue may not really have anything to with email at all.

Which anti-virus and spyware programs are you using? Are they up to date?

If you hit ctrl-alt-delete to bring up the task manager and go to the processes tab what processes have a big number (close to 100) in the CPU column or have 6 digits in the memory column?
